One of the most attractive pieces of wall art available today is a European best tapestry. This type of wall is well received by friends and family. It offers a unique perspective that few other types of art can offer in terms of historical value. So what is the best way to decorate with a beautiful tapestry? It is really quite simple. Just select a wall and then decide upon the colors that you wish to match. The next thing to do is to pick a theme that suits your needs the best. From medieval to floral and castle scenes, tapestries come in many shapes, styles and colors. They offer the perfect interior design edge that many rooms are missing today. Personalize and Customize: Out the Box Creations

I love handmade items. Not only are they crafted with care, but also by someone who is passionate about what they do, and I dig that. As most of you already know, not only do I sell on Etsy, I shop there too. It’s my go-to online marketplace where I find unique, eye-catching products that display fine craftsmanship and creativity. Recently I did a mini-review on a beautiful shop called Out the Box Creations.  You may remember the onesies and the maxi dress that I featured. I’ve really noticed how the brand was developing and expanding in a very positive direction. One that can be summed up in a great word: Custom!

Firstly, I’d like to mention that Spring is just around the corner, and I’ve been looking for some fresh statement pieces for my wardrobe. While browsing the shop, a gorgeous Chevron Clutch Purse popped out at me right away. I’m really into colors and patterns, so this instantly stood out to me. The wonderful thing about these clutches is that there are different colors to choose from:  aqua, navy, gold, hot pink, grey or burnt orange. You are also able to choose your own inner lining color, and have the option of adding a monogram, initials or name. The Spring Clutch Purse is also very pretty and fresh for spring! It comes in 4 different fabrics, all very fun and colorful. These can be customized too, with a flower or button accent, or a different lining or monogram as well.

Next on my list…infinity scarves! I love infinity scarves so much, so when I saw that these were offered, I got all giddy about it! The Mother/Daughter Infinity Scarves are an adorable idea. These comfortable cotton scarves are made to order, and come in 9 specialty colors, any solid color or 6 chevron patterns. These come in different sizes, depending on who you are ordering for. toddler, tween or adult. They are also available separately, if you just want one for yourself or for a child. This makes a great gift, and you can custom make it to fit your own personal style.

ImageLast, but definitely not least, I completely adore both the Bowtie and Tie Onesies and Personalized Baby Girl Onesies. As an auntie, I feel the burning desire to spoil my nephews with gifts and the cutest clothing. They bowtie and tie onesies come with optional vest, buttons or suspenders. Super adorable, right? These onesies are not your boring plain white ones! Have a baby girl in mind? How about a personalized onesie for her too?! You could have her initial made of buttons, a little necklace design, colorful flowers, or any of the other creative and colorful designs as you can see from the photo! There are so many to choose from. There is so much room for customization and personalization, that these items are just really unique. You’ll be sure to capture a lot of attention and compliments with these cute onesies, and they make a perfect gift.

All in all, I’m impressed with the new items in shop, and the direction they are taking. Some shops aren’t open to custom orders, but , with Out The Box Creations, if there’s a different color or size you need, that’s great! If there’s an option that’s not listed, she will try to make it happen for you! Items tailored to your every need! Need I say more?!

My Cat Adopted Me and my Mum!

ImageI’ve always been a fan of cats, and we’ve had cats for most of my life. When I moved out on my own, I really enjoyed coming home for visits so that I could see my kitties again. I always wanted my own cat, but my room mate wasn’t really that fond of felines. He had grown up mainly around dogs, and I had both in my home always. Things get interesting when I come home one day from work, to an almost empty apartment. Here’s the story of how I met my kitty.

Image

I came home one day from a long day at the call center I worked at, unlocked the door to our basement apartment to find that my room mate was not back from his job yet. I put my backpack down on the floor, but still bent over, something jumps on my back and lays on it like it’s a bed. I immediately know that there is a cat on my back, but am confused to why there is one on my back. Where did this thing come from? Did it accidentally come in the door with me, from outside? I carefully remove this thing from my back and am looking face-to-face with a gorgeous long-haired grey and white cat with the pinkest little nose, a long body and the most gentle demeanor that I have ever encountered.

ImageI really wasn’t sure what to do at this point, so I decided to wait until my room mate got back home and go from there. We played for a good 20 minutes, got tuckered out, and my room mate came home to use snuggle-sleeping on the couch together. When I wake up, it is revealed to me that we are cat-sitting. His friend moved to a new place and couldn’t have the cat unless he was neutered and declawed. After weeks of having this handsome kitty (whose name is Damien, as I later learned) I find out that this person could not afford to pay for these things and was going to give Damien up to the local shelter. I was almost in tears at this point. I’ve become so attached to him and knew that my room mate didn’t really like cats.  I was in distress. I finally got the courage to talk to my room mate about possibly adopting Damien, and he felt the same way. He’d also grown to like cats.

Image

I was really frugal for the next couple months because it was really important for me to take him to the vet to get him neutered, vaccinated and have his ears checked out (ended up he had ear mites). After that, I just had to keep giving him his ear medication and the rest was pretty much done. He was a healthy boy, about a year old or a little less than that.

ImageI had to give my boy up to my mother when I moved in with a boyfriend who was severely allergic to cats (I am no longer with him). He keeps my mom good company and I get to see him a lot too, so I can’t complain. I feel like it’s a perfect story of how he found us. He is the most laid back, cuddle-hungry cat that I’ve ever met. I just really wanted to share the heart-warming tale of Damien, my big boy!

Etsy Finds: Out The Box Creations

I came across the shop Out the Box Creations and it really stood out to me. I don’t have children myself, but I have 3 little nephews who I just adore, and I love looking at children’s clothes and gifts. What auntie doesn’t love to spoil their nephews or nieces! Basically, LaKesha, the owner, has a knack for style. Her items include different outfits for babies and small children. Personalized onesies, College team dresses, little booties, football team baby clothing and even a tutu set! Stuff for boys and girls alike. I love that they have seasonal items like Christmas and Thanksgiving onesies. No kids to buy for? No problem! There’s something for baby, woman and even the dog of the family! Here are a few of my favorites (click on the photos to view the items).

My New Favourite Top

meeI’m a little too excited. Here’s why:

Yesterday I was feeling terrible in general. I had gained a bit of weight and felt ‘fat and ugly’. I have been also having some family drama that I didn’t want to be a part of. My mood was really low and I needed to get out. I met up with my good friend Laura to do some retail therapy. It never fails me, and I had some Christmas cash to spend. I also wanted to feel good about myself, so naturally I decided to stop into some clothing shops for something cute! Thankfully, there were TONS of boxing week sales, as I’m a fierce deal hunter and pretty thrifty. I went into two stores that both carried plus size clothing and ended up being thoroughly disappointed. I even tried on sizes much bigger than my usual size. One size is too small, the size up is too big, or too long. Feeling defeated, I tried one last shop that goes up to an XXL size only. I chose 3 things that I fell completely in love with, 50% off the lowest tagged price. I dreaded the change room so much. I got in, reluctantly took off my coat and shirt to try on the tops. To my surprise, the first one fit. So did the second and third. Fit like a glove! What the heck!! So I decided to rock it and go out to karaoke. Just a side note, I NEVER fit into peplum tops because they’re too long usually and I’m a short gal…I’m completely amazed and feel pretty great now.

The Lazy Chef: 5 Things I Add Cocoa Powder To

Image

I find myself in this scenario often, where I really just want some chocolate but there’s no chocolate bars or baked goods to be found at home. I tear through the cupboards trying to find the perfect snack, or a forgotten snack once purchased, to no avail. Then I find my Fry’s coco powder and the lightbulbs are flashing.

I’ve compiled a list of easy things I do in a pinch when I want chocolate RIGHT NOW!

Yogurt

Yogurt

This is my favourite thing to do when I’m craving something chocolatey. I love the creaminess of yogurt, and I love chocolate. I will add a teaspoon of cocoa powder to my favourite flavour of yogurt and it tastes like I’m eating cake batter. Great combos include vanilla, strawberry, strawberry banana and coffee flavour yogurts. The added chocolate just makes it that much more delicious!

Coffee

Coffee

Just adding a bit of cocoa power can give your morning coffee a facelift. I personally drink my coffee with both sugar and milk. Adding a bit of cocoa powder to it makes it taste like a mocha latte, but less fancy. I can deal with less fancy. Just give me some chocolate!

Oatmeal

Cereal

I love porridge and anything that resembles sludge. Cream of wheat, Wheetabix and the other oat cereals are amazing. What’s more amazing is chocolate. Seriously, it tastes SO good with a sprinkle of cocoa! Trust me.

Banana

Banana

It’s like a really lazy way of doing fondue. Don’t bother with melting chocolate. Just grab your banana, slice it up, and dip those slices into some power and pop it in your mouth! It tastes indulgent but is actually a healthier option. You can experiment with different types of fruit too. Strawberries, raspberries, apple slices? Why not. I’ll probably try them soon enough too!

Toast

Toast

I used to do this with cinnamon, but sometimes you just want chocolate for breakfast. Mix with a small amount of sugar or sweetener and sprinkle on your breakfast toast! I always butter my toast first so the mix can stick onto the toast better and not fall off. So yummy, you have no idea!
