Personalize and Customize: Out the Box Creations

I love handmade items. Not only are they crafted with care, but also by someone who is passionate about what they do, and I dig that. As most of you already know, not only do I sell on Etsy, I shop there too. It’s my go-to online marketplace where I find unique, eye-catching products that display fine craftsmanship and creativity. Recently I did a mini-review on a beautiful shop called Out the Box Creations.  You may remember the onesies and the maxi dress that I featured. I’ve really noticed how the brand was developing and expanding in a very positive direction. One that can be summed up in a great word: Custom!

Firstly, I’d like to mention that Spring is just around the corner, and I’ve been looking for some fresh statement pieces for my wardrobe. While browsing the shop, a gorgeous Chevron Clutch Purse popped out at me right away. I’m really into colors and patterns, so this instantly stood out to me. The wonderful thing about these clutches is that there are different colors to choose from:  aqua, navy, gold, hot pink, grey or burnt orange. You are also able to choose your own inner lining color, and have the option of adding a monogram, initials or name. The Spring Clutch Purse is also very pretty and fresh for spring! It comes in 4 different fabrics, all very fun and colorful. These can be customized too, with a flower or button accent, or a different lining or monogram as well.

Next on my list…infinity scarves! I love infinity scarves so much, so when I saw that these were offered, I got all giddy about it! The Mother/Daughter Infinity Scarves are an adorable idea. These comfortable cotton scarves are made to order, and come in 9 specialty colors, any solid color or 6 chevron patterns. These come in different sizes, depending on who you are ordering for. toddler, tween or adult. They are also available separately, if you just want one for yourself or for a child. This makes a great gift, and you can custom make it to fit your own personal style.

ImageLast, but definitely not least, I completely adore both the Bowtie and Tie Onesies and Personalized Baby Girl Onesies. As an auntie, I feel the burning desire to spoil my nephews with gifts and the cutest clothing. They bowtie and tie onesies come with optional vest, buttons or suspenders. Super adorable, right? These onesies are not your boring plain white ones! Have a baby girl in mind? How about a personalized onesie for her too?! You could have her initial made of buttons, a little necklace design, colorful flowers, or any of the other creative and colorful designs as you can see from the photo! There are so many to choose from. There is so much room for customization and personalization, that these items are just really unique. You’ll be sure to capture a lot of attention and compliments with these cute onesies, and they make a perfect gift.

All in all, I’m impressed with the new items in shop, and the direction they are taking. Some shops aren’t open to custom orders, but , with Out The Box Creations, if there’s a different color or size you need, that’s great! If there’s an option that’s not listed, she will try to make it happen for you! Items tailored to your every need! Need I say more?!

Etsy Finds: KB and Friends

KB  and friends is a beautiful shop I’ve run into lately, and that I’m excited to tell you about! It’s a mother-daughter run shop that sells all kinds of vintage, retro and whimsical digital and paper products. I’ve always been into vintage items and paper ephemera, as well as digital art. This shop really pulls these two loves together in one place! There are items for both kids and adults, with flash cards for kids to recipe books and scrapbook products. All including a cute, whimsical and vintage look.

My favorite items are the albums/recipe books.

My favorite items are the albums/recipe books. They are embellished with flowers, ribbon, and little bits and pieces of vintage. They are so unique and am absolutely in love with these. I also really love the flash cards because they remind me of my childhood with the colorful vintage characters. The bingo cards are really neat as well; I remember playing bingo in school to help learn letters and numbers.

I also really love the flash cards

There are so many other goodies here too, and I just really fell in love with them. The digital listings are great, since there is no waiting for mail to arrive, just print as desired (or view them from the computer). Pretty handy, right?! All in all, I think that if you love the shabby chic, vintage style, and are looking for paper and digital products, I highly suggest KB and Friends. The prices are reasonable and the products are beautiful!

Etsy Finds: Out The Box Creations

I came across the shop Out the Box Creations and it really stood out to me. I don’t have children myself, but I have 3 little nephews who I just adore, and I love looking at children’s clothes and gifts. What auntie doesn’t love to spoil their nephews or nieces! Basically, LaKesha, the owner, has a knack for style. Her items include different outfits for babies and small children. Personalized onesies, College team dresses, little booties, football team baby clothing and even a tutu set! Stuff for boys and girls alike. I love that they have seasonal items like Christmas and Thanksgiving onesies. No kids to buy for? No problem! There’s something for baby, woman and even the dog of the family! Here are a few of my favorites (click on the photos to view the items).

My New Favourite Top

meeI’m a little too excited. Here’s why:

Yesterday I was feeling terrible in general. I had gained a bit of weight and felt ‘fat and ugly’. I have been also having some family drama that I didn’t want to be a part of. My mood was really low and I needed to get out. I met up with my good friend Laura to do some retail therapy. It never fails me, and I had some Christmas cash to spend. I also wanted to feel good about myself, so naturally I decided to stop into some clothing shops for something cute! Thankfully, there were TONS of boxing week sales, as I’m a fierce deal hunter and pretty thrifty. I went into two stores that both carried plus size clothing and ended up being thoroughly disappointed. I even tried on sizes much bigger than my usual size. One size is too small, the size up is too big, or too long. Feeling defeated, I tried one last shop that goes up to an XXL size only. I chose 3 things that I fell completely in love with, 50% off the lowest tagged price. I dreaded the change room so much. I got in, reluctantly took off my coat and shirt to try on the tops. To my surprise, the first one fit. So did the second and third. Fit like a glove! What the heck!! So I decided to rock it and go out to karaoke. Just a side note, I NEVER fit into peplum tops because they’re too long usually and I’m a short gal…I’m completely amazed and feel pretty great now.

Jewelry Quest: China Edition

I have to admit that I am in love with shopping. I can spend hours just looking at clothes, makeup, books and craft supplies. I’m also pretty selective, so it takes me forever to decide what I want. Enter online marketplaces. I have been a shopper on Etsy and Ebay for years now, with no regrets. I love being able to search for what I want, and take breaks or save the page for later if I’m not sure. It’s just fantastic!

This brings me to my next issue. I used to avoid China like the plague, until I worked at a very popular retail store. I realized that every piece of jewelry we sold had tiny words on the back of the package, reading ‘made in China’. I started going to other popular stores as well; all from China. I’ve actually started notice the same products (or nearly the same) sold on Ebay for pennies. Here’s a great example:

Guess the Price! There are 2 necklaces. One is $5.00 and the other is 14.50…Click to find out.

ImageImageSo how did you do? It’s really a 50/50 chance unless you cheated. So, some of the items may have minor differences, but are more than likely made in the same factory. I’d rather save my money and just buy online. It might take 2-4 weeks to get to me, but that’s a price I’m willing to pay.

As a side note, as an Etsy seller and shopper, I do buy (as well as make) unique handcrafted jewelry. Nothing compares  to the craftsmanship and heart that goes into each piece. But sometimes, I just need that cute 2 dollar chunky necklace…and I’m not ashamed of that.

And without further ado, here is a pair of earrings I bought for 2 dollars from China (just got them in today).
